Goings on!

Well Christmas has come and gone and we had a very enjoyable holiday season. We got treats out, christmas cards sent, and went and saw the nativity display at the museum. Then on Christmas Eve Chad had the day off so we just hung out and relaxed until that evening when we went to my parents and had a wonderful meal with them and our friends Saba and Karen Jean-Baptiste. Then we acted out the nativity and everyone had a part. Garrett was Joseph, Daniel was baby Jesus, Chad was a wise man, and I was a shepherd. Then we all opened our Christmas Eve present that is always PJ's. By that time it was getting late so we headed home and the boys fell asleep in the car (great for us).On Christmas morning we got up around 7:30 and went to see what Santa brought us. The boys loved looking in their stockings and unwrapping the presents that Santa left. Then we started in on our gifts. We were very blessed and got some wonderful presents. Chad's favorite was probably the new ring I got him.

It is tungsten carbide with a carbon fiber inlay. He really likes it and I am very glad.

He got me a new headboard and footboard for our bed. We have never had one and I am so excited for it. We have to get a king size mattress now because it is king sized and our mattress is a queen.

Later that day my family came over and we opened some more presents then watched a movie and just hung out it was a great day.

The most wonderful time of the year!

Wow!  Can you believe Christmas is only 9 days away!?!?!?!  We are so excited at our house.  We started the season out by getting our Christmas tree just before Thanksgiving since we would be away for Thanksgiving up in Washington.  We had a lot of fun up there and ate a ton of food.  When we got back from WA we finished decorating our house for Christmas and started wrapping presents and getting things ready.  We had our ward Christmas party that was wonderful and very centered around Christ.  We also went to a very fun party with some friends of ours, and on Monday we had Chad's work party at the Sandpiper.  Last night we went Caroling with the ward.  There were a ton of people and it was complete with trailers and hay bails.  Hopefully we will be going to see the nativities, make treats for our neighbors, and send out Christmas cards before the season is over.  We love this time of the year!!!!

You know when you just have one of those days when life seems crazy and your kids just seem to do everything to drive you crazy and then you aren't very kind to them. Ya that was my day today but then I found this and it made me feel better. (oh ya this is my 100th post YIPPY)

I was a mom pretty much all day today. Here is my report:

I cruelly forced someone to wear pants outside in 40-degree weather.

I cut peanut-butter sandwiches in the shape of dinosaurs and delivered them to an alfresco restaurant-for-2 at the end of our driveway.

I danced like a lunatic while driving in my car. My passengers said I was good. I chose to believe them.

I changed shirts twice but never showered.

I calmly explained AGAIN why people under the age of 30 should never use permanent markers… ever.

I threw away 3 packs of wipes that had been left open and dried out completely. Yes. I heard the earth and Sheryl Crow scream out in pain and betrayal.

I received a visitor while sitting upon the throne who proceeded to hug and cuddle me tenderly while I peed… just because of love.

When they asked “Why,” I answered. All day long.

I held a large child like a baby while he cried and showed me his bonk. Twice.

I giggled on the escalator while holding hands with a boy and agreed that it was “JUST LIKE A RIDE!”

I tried to play a girly ballad on the car stereo but was told, “That song’s scary!” “No it’s not,” I retorted. He responded, “It’s not scary to YOU, but it’s scary to ME.” I navigated my Zune back to Eye of the Tiger.

I sat out on the front porch to sort the mail so they could keep playing outside until it was All the Way Dark.

When asked to squeeze the ketchup in the shape of a dinosaur, I did my best but was informed that it looked more like an AT-AT.

I purchased the socks with the grey bottoms even though they cost 50 cents more because they help him run so much faster.

After 3 hours of hard work, I unearthed a parking spot in our garage and put my car in it, only to be scared and confused when I went to leave for a meeting and found that the car was “missing” from the driveway.

I sat in a meeting full of other moms, animatedly discussing ways of extorting money from friends and family to support education. An award called a “Golden Acorn,” professional jump-ropers, and nominating people to be on a committee to nominate people were all discussed at the meeting as well.

I picked up two slugs with my bare hands and threw them to freedom so the children’s squealing would stop. One was on a rubber ball. One was on my living room carpet. They felt like congealed slime… because they were.

Upon request I composed two original songs, one called, “Hooky Joojie” and the other called, “Mommy, the Laylee’s Mommy,” sung to the tune of Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer.

I heard two people pray about how much they loved me.

Today I was a mom. It’s not a bad gig.

What a ride!!!

WOW!!!  I am really bad at updating this, but oh well....it is my blog and I will update when I want :)! 
We have had a crazy few weeks...I feel like we are on a rollercoaster (but I guess that is life right).  Here are a few bullet points of things that have been going on in the King House.
* Chad was very very sick for about two weeks at the end of September.  He had that flu and let me tell you it was mean.  He was down with that for about 4 days and I mean down like he could barely move.  Then just as he was recovering from that he got bronchitis (sp?).  And that really took a toll because he wasn't fully recovered from the flu.  We are glad he is well though, we missed his crazy playful nature. 
* Luckily no one else got sick.  While he had the flu I took the boys to my parents for most of the day and just hung out so we wouldn't be around Chad very much.  I am sure he was lonely but I didn't want to take a chance and get the boys sick. 
* Three weeks ago my Grandma Lambert was put in the hospital and is still there.  They weren't sure at first what was wrong and finally figured out that it was an infection in her blood.  She went septic and her kidneys started to fail.  They discovered that the infection was centered around the pace maker in her heart and they would either need to do surgery to remove it or she would die.  Well they decided to do the surgery even though that was also risky.  She came out of the surgery fine but was still not out of the woods.  The infection is doing better but her kidneys are still failing and she has to have dialysis about three times a week.  She is getting very tired and run down.  Some days are good and others not so good so we just take it a day at a time.  We have gone to Utah twice to see her and we hope and pray that she will make it through this.  She is such a strong and amazing woman!!!
* Saturday we celebrated Daniel's birthday!!!!!  He is now 1 and I can't believe it.  We were in Utah in the morning but drove home and just celebrated here with just our family.  We did cake and ice cream and then opened presents.  The crazy thing it the boy who will eat just about anything wanted nothing to do with the cake.  I even put some in his mouth and he spit it out.  He ate the ice cream but was still not sure how he felt about it.  We were very surprised! 
Well that is the last few weeks in a nut shell now for some pictures!!!!!

While in Utah we went to Gardner Village. They had is all decorated for Halloween.  It was tons of fun.  We went with Tia, Karter, Grandma Poulson, Carrie, and Kylee.

Comparison!

I just wanted to put up two pictures of the boys when they were about the same age for a comparison.  I think they look like brothers but they definitely look different.

Garrett and the Beach!!!

This was Garrett's first experience with the beach. He wasn't sure what to think.

About time :)!!!

We had such a great time in Seattle.  Why is it that vacations never seem to last long enough.  We got to see lots of friends and family and it was great to have time to just relax.  I loved getting lots of help with the boys while we were there.  Most of these pictures are from the day that we went to Edmonds Beach.  We made Garrett put his feet in the water and that was so funny.  He was not very happy about it cause it was really cold.  Here are just a few highlights from the trip that I want to make sure we remember.

* Garrett loves his Poppa (grandpa)  They had so much fun playing together.

*Garrett also really loves his Momma (grandma)  I mean who wouldn't she is such a good person.  One morning he woke up at about 5 am and was calling for Momma, so Karen came in and got him and he was fine after that. 

*Daniel learned to climb up the stairs while we were there.  We had to create a make-shift gate out of a cardboard box to keep him in the family room.

*We got to see lot of cousins and family which include: Phil and Christy and their little girl Charlotte, Nikki and Eric and their kids Tyson, Natalie, and Alivia, Uncle Doug and Aunt Cheri, Kyle and his girlfriend and Nikki's cousin Amy, Grandma and Grandpa Swietzer, Uncle Bob and Aunt Vicki and Cousin Hailey (first time meeting them for me), we also saw Grandpa Hanson and Grandma Gene while we were there.

*We got to see several friends while we were there as well.  Brandon and Bethany and their little boy Chandler, and also Jason and Cindi and their little girl Alara.

*Jason and Cindi also made us a great dinner and let us rock out to rock band with them. 

*We played tons and tons of Pinnochle.  I am getting a lot better, which I am glad about.  You can't be a true King if you don't know how to play Pinnochle. 

*Garrett had a blast at the Stevenson fair.  It was a tiny little fair we went to and he had a blast.  He got to go three times while we were there and he fed the baby goats everytime.  He really like those baby goats.  There were other animals to feed but he just kept going back to those baby goats. 

*We went to the Rainforest Cafe and Garrett was petrified of the big animatronic elephants.  Poor thing was scared to death.

*We had family pictures taken and Garrett was just not in the mood for that.  We had to have his binky in for quite a few of the pictures.  I think part of the problem was just minutes before we took pictures he bonked his head on the table.  He didn't realize that it was so low and went to reach for the toys that were under there and bonked his head really good.

*Grandma and Grandpa bought the boys some toys to play with whenever they come and they sent us home with one of them.  It is a little ball pit toy, the boys really love it. 

*Garrett had a good time looking at the alpachas and big huge dogs on Grandma and Grandpa Swietzer's farm.  Garrett really loves animals.

*Chad got Grandma Swietzer to start up her amazing '86 Nissan 300 Z.  She has taken such good care of it.  It still looks brand new. 

*Daniel travels really well.  He never made a fuss unless he was hungry.  Getting him to sleep at night in the hotel was a little hard.   On the way home we stopped at a hotel and we didn't have a bed for him so we had to make a bed on the floor out of chairs and he wasn't sure what he was supposed to do in there.  He did finally go to sleep though.

Independance Day

We had a great 4th!!!  We started the day like many people and went  to the parade.  We had great seats thanks to my family.  They own a rental right on 4th street so we just sat on the lawn and steps and we were even able to park at the back of the house so we didn't have to walk forever to get to the parade.  The boys really enjoyed the parade and Garrett loved getting all the candy of course.

After the Parade we went home for about an hour to make a treat for the BBQ we were going to and to water the sod we laid the day before.  We went to the BBQ at the Passeys and ate tons of good food.  We would have stayed longer but we still had sod from the day before that we had to get laid so it wouldn't die. 

We got home and the wonderful Ellsworths came over and helped us get the rest laid and now we have a front yard :)!!!

After that we hung out for a bit and watered the lawn and then headed down to the river for the fireworks.  Some friends of ours had been there most of the day saving a spot so we are gald they let us come and join them.  We talked and enjoyed some yummy food, then sat back and enjoyed the fireworks show.  It was a great day!

July 1st, 2006....

Our little Garrett was born!!!!  He is now two years old and I can't believe it!  He is such a funny boy and is always keeping us laughing.  He is only two but such a good big brother.  He will get Daniel a toy or put his binky in when he is sad.  He is also already very good at rough housing with Daniel.  Daniel just adores him.

To celebrate we went to the Zoo and had dinner and cake & ice cream with my family.  Garrett loved the zoo.  When we saw the lions I told him to tell daddy what the lions say and he said "ROAR"  it was actually pretty loud.  Then later he saw an ant on the ground and stopped to say "Hello."  He kept saying more whenever we saw a new exhibit.  It was very funny he wanted to see more and more animals.   

He loved his presents!  He got a bike, two movies, a bucket and pail, a license plate for his bike, a book, a new hat and shirt, and a pack of four cars.  He was very excited and it was fun because this year he really got into opening his presents and understood what was going on.  He was also very good at blowing out his candles on the cake.  One blow and they were out. 

We just love him so much and cherish each moment we get with him.

Quick Shout Out

I am so excited for this. I am not sure how many people know but I am in the local production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" It is going to be great and so funny. There are some wonderful preformers in the show and I am having a blast at rehearsals. Chad has been such a good sport while I have been doing this. We practice a lot which means he has to do mommy duty at night while I am gone.

Everyone that can make it should come. It is going to be wonderful production and very entertaining.

It runs June 25th, 26th, 27th, 29th, & 30th at the Civic Auditorium. The show starts a 7:30 pm. Tickets are $8 a person, $40 for a family ticket (immediate family only), and $5 a person for a group rate. If you need tickets I can get them for you just let me know.
