"To not take counsel from our fears means that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ overrules our fears and that we can press forward with a steadfastness in Him. To not take counsel from our fears means that we trust in God's guidance, assurance, and timing in our lives."
—David A. Bednar, "Christ Overrules Our Fears"
I just wanted to share this quote today because it really hit home with me. Life is full of so many decisions and twists and turns but we can't ever left fear take the wheel. I am so prone to letting fear drive what I do. Fear of doing the wrong thing, fear of what others might think of me, fear of messing up. I hate to let people down and I hate making mistakes. It is sometimes a daily challenge for me to not let fear paralyze me. Sometimes I know it is completely silly and irrational but still the fear is there.
Even as I share this I fear what others will think or if I should even share this or if I am saying things the right way, but reading this quote is helping me realize that I can't let fear control me anymore. I need to move forward in faith, trusting that the Lord will help me on the path and that when I do fail the atonement will be there to help me clean up the mess.
One of the biggest things that I fear is making the wrong choice, I will even go so far as to question decisions that have already been made and wonder what if I had done this or what if I didn't make that choice. Why do I do this to myself? I know that it is Satan trying to tear me down. He doesn't want me to continue on the path I am on. He doesn't want me to be a good mom or a good wife. He wants me to question every move and become so fearful of making the wrong choice that I don't make any choice.
I hope this makes sense and if it doesn't make sense to you it makes sense to me and that is what really matters. I need to trust myself and step forward it faith, knowing that I have wonderful family and friends who love and support me. And most importantly I have a loving Father in Heaven ready and waiting to help me along the way.
